Master’s thesis
A student doing a (one-year) Master’s in Health Psychology is required to conduct an independent research project. In consultation with and supervised by a thesis supervisor (university) and a research internship supervisor (host/training institute) (s)he writes a research proposal, collects and analyses relevant data and writes a Master’s thesis. As a rule, the project coincides with the NijCa²re research lines and ongoing research. Research and thesis writing are to be completed within the scope of five months. Research Master’s programme
NijCa²re offers students the opportunity to complete their Research Master’s internship under the supervision of researchers working at the Expertise Centre for Anxiety, OCD and PTSD, the Depression Expertise Centre or the Ambulatorium (Radboud Centre for Social Science’s outpatient treatment clinic) and in close collaboration with researchers at the Radboud University. Most will be doing so within the context of the two-year Research Master programme of the Behavioural Science Institute (From: http://www.ru.nl/bsi/) of the Radboud University.
The two-year Behavioural Science Research Master programme aims to train its students in science-based research within the area of psychology with an emphasis on gaining comprehensive and in-depth theoretical knowledge of core research themes and dynamic and robust research skills and data-analysis techniques. Its graduates will have proficiency in state-of-the-art research and the potential to become successful (inter)national PhD researchers, as experience has shown: a large number of our graduates succeed in acquiring and successfully completing a PhD programme. NijCa²re offers students in the Behavioural Science Research Master’s programme a unique opportunity to conduct both basic and applied research, to become skilled in high-quality applied research and to combine their research internship with their clinical internship.
Also students majoring in Applied Psychology with the HAN (Nijmegen University of Applied Sciences) or other such schools can do their internships with NijCa²re.
Health Psychology Honours Programme internships
Radboud University is committed to recruiting and training talented students and offers ambitious undergraduates the opportunity to enrol in an honours programme during their second or third year, an enrichment programme comprising elective courses, practical training and a research internship. In September 2011 a Health Psychology track was introduced for promising psychology undergraduates pursuing a career in healthcare (research). The honours track offers its students a 3-month internship (one half day per week) in the second and a 9-month research internship (one day a week) in the third year of their Bachelor’s degree programme (From: http://www.ru.nl/rha/psychologie).
